How many litres do you need in an air fryer?

Updated 2026-10-18

Air fryer size looks simple, but litres on the box do not tell you how much food fits. This guide shows how to choose the right size for your household, and why a bigger basket is not always better.

Use the Pemilih Saiz on the home page for a quick answer.

What litres really mean

Litres are the volume of the pot. Food needs space around it for hot air to circulate, so usable capacity is smaller. Cooking in a single layer gives the crispiest result.

A quick size chart

About 2L to 3.5L suits one or two people. 4L to 5L suits three to four. 6L to 7L suits five to six. 8L and above suits big families, kenduri prep or batch cooking. Dual baskets add flexibility at 7L to 10L.

What fits in each size

A 3L basket takes a couple of chicken pieces or a portion of fries. A 5L basket handles 5 to 6 drumsticks or a family portion of fries. Whole chickens need roughly 6L or more, and small ones only.

Counter space and power

A big air fryer uses counter space and more watts. Measure your kitchen and check your socket before you buy.

When to size up

If you often cook for guests or fry in several batches, sizing up saves time. If you live alone, a larger unit just takes space.
